When creating our Fund, we looked at Abraham Maslow’s pyramid of human needs differently.
Physiological needs, such as food, water, rest, sleep, and health, are the basis of human existence. We are happy to help with this.

When, if not in times of war, we need to concern ourselves with the next, safe level. These are protection, housing, and work as a guarantee of confidence in the future. We are ready to lend a shoulder.

A person’s needs for friendship, family, love, respect, and self-realization are the priority of our Foundation, because they make a human a person, and put him on the highest life level.

Ukraine is suffering incredible, irreversible losses. The war changes lifestyle and interpersonal relationships. They break illusions about a safe world and human empathy. This leads not only to the death of people, economic losses, and destruction of homes, infrastructure, and cultural monuments. War destroys body and soul.

It is not only about contusions and injuries but also about mental health. Ukraine is facing an epidemic of psycho-emotional disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, aggression, addiction, and suicidal thoughts. Unfortunately, solving these problems will take a long time.

The war divided Ukrainians. Someone immigrated abroad, someone froze, hid in the hope that this horror would end soon. There are others. They took up arms to defend their families and their country. This is the flower of the nation, its golden physical and moral gene pool. They are the ones who suffer the most.  Mental and psychological problems of the military are superimposed on combat injuries with damage to many organs and systems (a third is damage) with disruption of their functioning.

The multiple character of military injuries with the predominance of mental disorders proves the priority of psychoneurological treatment and rehabilitation, the development and implementation of individual plans, and the coordinated work of a multidisciplinary team. So far, diagnostic and treatment programs have been developed and worked out, including targeted pharmacological and non-pharmacological correction methods. They improve psycho-emotional and physical condition, and motor and mental functions. Life goes on, it cannot be paused. The country, the poorest in Europe before the war and impoverished even more during the war, faced unprecedented challenges. Ukraine stood up not thanks to some miracle. Ukraine stood up thanks to the unity and courage of Ukrainians, and the help of the whole civilized world. It needs support both now and in the perspective.
Restoring the mental and physical health of military personnel, and returning to a full-fledged life in the family and society, is the goal and essence of the Come Back Life fund’s activity.
